America’s Cup 1987, 25th Anniversary

4 February 2012

Length: 04:27

After twice successfully defending the America’s Cup, Dennis Conner suffered a historic defeat in 1983, becoming the first American to lose the Cup in its 132 year history. Conner’s loss to Australia II made him even more determined to win the Cup back.

Four years later in Australia he returned in his new boat Stars & Stripes, and along with his all-American team of sailors, took a resounding 4-0 win to bring the America’s Cup back to the United States.

The victory made Conner a true legend in the sport, and our ‘America’s Cup 1987, 25th Anniversary’ video looks back at this historic moment, and looks ahead to the 34th edition of the Cup, where Team USA’s ORACLE Racing will attempt to defend the Cup in San Francisco, 2013.
